Wonder Stag Valley Hungarian Community Camp and Center is a volunteer project. If you'd like to support us with a tax deductible donation or as a sponsor, you are just a few clicks away!
Our three generous founders donated to our community almost half a million dollars’ worth of land, buildings and voluntary work through their Wonder Stag LLC. The constructions are also supported by foundations in Hungary and the US.
Our capital campaign aims to raise an additional 1.5 million dollars.
Every participant's fees are subsidized at Wonder Stag Valley and our programs are run entirely by volunteers in order to keep our community accessible to everyone. Help families & children get their share of the magic!
Help us purchase an adjacent plot, pay for landscaping, construction and furnishing of dorms suitable for 150 children from the region all summer long!
We are constructing four, comfortable, heated bungalows for people with disabilities, families with infants and toddlers, the elderly, anyone who won't sleep in a tent, or would like to enjoy the Valley when the weather turns.
The camping experience will be more comfortable and accessible with communal, indoor buildings on rainy days and in cold weather. In addition, communal buildings will enable the Valley to stay open all year around: to receive guests for culinary and cultural events, weddings and other group and private rentals. This investment will contribute to the sustainability of the camp on the long run.
Proximity to nature is part of the traditional Eastern European way of life. Mónika Kardos is a special education teacher who also practices animal therapy. We are building several stables and rehoming farm animals to the Valley for healing, educational, and farming purposes: goats, lambs, quails, chickens, horses, mangalica pigs, small cattle, fish, Hungarian pumi dogs, and bunnies.
On the shore of the lake we want to create a sandy beach for campers. We are also planning to build a mini-hydropower plant to ensure our own energy supply. We are protecting the forest and creating agricultural areas to teach children how to live in harmony with nature as well as the basics of self-sufficiency, e.g. pickling, baking bread, goat milking, foraging, building campfire, gardening.
If you don't mind getting a bit dirty, enjoy working in construction or farming, get involved in landscaping and constructing with our team led by Laci! We have big plans for the near future and we need a lot of hands!
